MountainOne Steel Rail Races return Spring 2023 with new Half Marathon route and new sponsorship opportunities.

Hello Runners,

As Berkshire Running Center owners and MountainOne Steel Rail Race Directors, we are thrilled to be returning to the beautiful Ashuwillticook Rail Trail this Spring, hosting the MountainOne Steel Rail 8K, Half Marathon and the MountainOne Steel Rail Marathon on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Berkshire Running Center is owned and operated by ourselves, our children and a handful of close running friends and high school and college running standouts. In 2022 we relocated to the Allendale Shopping Center. Now we are just feet away from the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail and proud to be the only run specialty store and training center in the Berkshires. WE are thrilled to host these events, as well as the October Berkshire Half Marathon, to support health and wellness in our community and to raise funds dedicated to support the upkeep of the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.

We have taken great pride in our MountainOne Steel Rail Races for over a decade and even more pride in the economic impact this event has for our community. Running in the Berkshires is a special thing, and to be able to do so on such the beautifully maintained Ashuwillticook Rail Trail with its spectacular views, makes the events even more desirable for the runner in all of us. We have hosted runners from all over the country and beyond, taking part in their first event or their 50th state marathon.

If this is your first race, we are excited for you. Most runners wish for a course to be flat, or fast or beautiful. The MountainOne Steel Rail Races are flat, fast and beautiful. We hope you have a wonderful experience.

We also welcome back all returning runners from last year’s challenging weather and high temperatures with open hearts. Our promise is to bring you the best experience we can to thank you for your choice to return to the MountainOne Steel Rail Race starting line.

Corporate Race Sponsor, MountainOne, has come on board to take our races to the next level with their support and enthusiasm. We are thrilled to have worked together over the past few years making a significant impact in our community including benefiting the Elizabeth Freeman Center, the South Congregational Food Pantry, and the newly established Ashuwillticook Rail Trail Fund with the City of Pittsfield. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the Pittsfield Portion of the trail for maintenance and expansion.

Race sponsor Berkshire Brewing Company provides the Steel Rail Pale Ale at the finish line. The post-race celebration features food vendors and everyone enjoying the atmosphere of a job well-done. Plan on sticking around and enjoying the food and fun!

Looking Ahead

2023 will prove to be very exciting as we are bookending the year with the MountainOne Steel Rail Races and the Berkshire Half Marathon on October 8. This will be the second year that we will host the Berkshire Half Marathon. Last year we gave away a new car to one lucky finisher. This year we are thrilled to let you know there will be even more surprises to be announced!
